Thanks everyone for helping us get close to our first goal of 100 supporters and for the wonderful comments you've been leaving. Petitions on Change.org have their "target" set automatically so as soon as we get past 100 it will update to something else ... what will it be next!? I hope we get to find out :) I have updated the video to be a shorter, 3 minute description of the problem we face and how functional finance fixes it based on feedback from participants ... thanks everyone for giving me that feedback and helping me to (hopefully) improve the message. Lastly, I just want to say this: I know that online petitions can be pretty bogus. Can we REALLY change anything by clicking a button on a screen? Well I'll tell you what I've found out from speaking with people in politics: politicians listen when LOTS of people say the same thing, and the good thing about Change.org is that it bombards the nominated decision maker with emails about a single issue with a single, focused message. The other thing it does is provide a PR opportunity: if we have lots of people behind a single issue like this, we can use it as a story and send out press releases to journalists who will then be interested enough to write about it. Much more interested than if it's just me ranting into my iPhone at Gosford train station! I am well aware that the journey towards adopting functional finance in Australia is longer than a single petition, but we must try everything we can to get the word out that we can run our economy differently, and to change the "economic vernacular" from one of "dollar in, dollar out" to one of "full employment for all". This petition is one way of crystallising that sentiment and spreading the word. So if you're wondering whether it's "even worth signing" then I would say a resounding YES!!! Please sign this petition and get as many people as you can to do the same. Thanks again, Iain
