AMAZING MAJOR BREAKING NEWS!
THANK YOU TO PRESIDENT TSAI ING-WEN OF TAIWAN FOR ENDING THE DOG AND CAT MEAT TRADE IN TAIWAN!
It was announced today that Taiwan's President Tsai Ing-wen made a landmark amendment yesterday (11th April) to the Animal Protection Act which means that the human consumption of dog and cat meat is banned in Taiwan, because people there are changing their views about pet ownership. This is the first of its kind in Asia!
The penalty for breaking this law is a fine of up to the equivalent of £6,500 while the penalty for animal cruelty and slaughter is a fine of up to the equivalent of £52,000 and up to 2 years in prison. Repeat offenders will face up to 5 years in prison and a higher fine and their names and photographs will be made public.
This is really excellent news and a major breakthrough and we must be optimistic that this will open the door to also end this terrible trade in the rest of Asia - China, South Korea, Vietnam, Indonesia, Cambodia etc., who will surely be watching this historic decision.
PLEASE LET US KEEP UP THE MOMENTUM BY CONTINUING TO SIGN, SHARE AND COMMENT!!
AS ALWAYS, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL YOU ARE DOING TO END THIS HORRIFIC TRADE!!
