Stop the Closure of Mundesley School Swimming Pool.

Mundesley is a coastal village.
The school swimming pool was built in 1967, we believe with funds raised by the local community.
In the early 1970s, the local community raised further funds to heat and cover the pool.
For over 50 years, pupils from Mundesley School and many other local schools and community groups have learned to swim in the pool. Many of these pupils have later become lifeguards on Mundesley beach, and have saved many lives. Learning to swim in a coastal village, without question, saves lives.
Mundesley School became part of The Coastal Federation of Schools recently. The Coastal Federation has recently informed parents that the school pool will close soon; this decision was made by the school without consulting with the local community. The school has stated that funding cuts and National Curriculum requirements are the reasons for closing the pool. The swimming instructor who has taught our young people to swim, and to help many conquer their fear of water for the past 22 years, and who is adored by the community, was also recently informed that she will soon no longer have a job!
The local community feel extremely strongly that the pool should stay open.
Please sign this petition to support this community, and thereby help their voices be heard over those of the decision makers who are eroding our country's education system.
