Petition updateDon't Tell Ballard to Shut UpDon’t give ‘em a chance to ignore you
Speak Up Ballard
Jul 31, 2015
We need everyone who signed our petition to turn out for Monday evening’s community meeting and make your voices heard. Here’s what’s at stake if we don’t: From the start, the city has tried to engineer the public process and limit the impact that local residents like you could make on the proposal for a homeless encampment on Market Street. That isn’t right. And thanks to your support for this petition, the city’s beginning to change its tune. But if you don’t show up on Monday -- and sign up to provide comments -- we run the risk of city hall assuming it can get away with ignoring residents’ questions and concerns on any issue critical the future of Ballard. Let’s show city hall we’re not going to roll over. It’s time to speak up, Ballard. 6:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 3 2812 Market Street (next door to the proposed encampment site) We will have a sign-up sheet for residents who want to provide comments. Make sure you arrive a few minutes early to sign up so your voice will be heard. You’ll have up to two minutes to tell city officials how you feel about the lack of public process in proposing an encampment in your neighborhood. Councilmember Mike O’Brien will be there. A representative from the mayor’s office will be there. These are the people who need to hear from you the most. Ballard doesn’t need more closed-door decisions. We need an open, public and transparent process that takes into account the diversity of perspectives in Ballard. Speak Up Ballard!
