The City of Virginia Beach is trying to FAST TRACK new zoning for an unnamed PRIVATE Battery Manufacturing Company. The 500,000+ sq ft facility would be on the Owl's Creek Scenic 70 acres. The City failed to include the residents in the decision making process and are pushing for a speedy deal. Knowing that this manufacturing facility will produce heavy construction traffic for the next 12-15 months, played a big part in why the city is pushing the deal. They do NOT want to deal with the opposition of the residents, which is unfair. This manufacuting facility will produce 1,100+ jobs (many are unskilled labor, that the City will pay to train). Others are already working for this company in VB, and they will retain the higher paying salaries. When the construction is complete the traffic will continue making Birdneck road unsafe. Residents of Virginia Beach vote “NO” to the manufacturing facility. This project will devalue the neighborhood. It is wrong to fence in the unused acreage which is 40+, as that will have a major adverse impact on the environment and local wildlife. We ARE opposed to this Facility, 1,100 employees, 1,000 vehicles and a 24/7 operation. We Oppose Corporate Welfare, and use of our land and our tax dollars for ANY Private Development.
