Because of our recycling crisis, plastic cutlery, soiled paper and polystyrene plates go directly landfill or are incinerated, creating toxic emissions. And more often than not, our food delivery services deliver to places that already have plates, cutlery and even chopsticks.

Require that ALL food delivery service have on Opt-Out button. Or better yet, and Opt-In button if people want it so the default is to opt out.

When I put in the Notes section of services such as GrubHub, Seamless and Postmates requesting NOT to include cutlery, plates, chopsticks, and napkins, they include these items anyway. I'm not sure where the communication breakdown is, but Uber Eats has an Opt-Out button and there are services like Deliveroo and FoodPanda that make people Opt-In which is of course a MUCH better default.

Consumer pressure WORKS! If YOUR notes not to include single-use disposables often goes ignored do THESE 3 THINGS:
1) Take a screen capture of the note requesting no single-use disposable cutlery etc.

2) If your note is ignored, post the screen capture, along with a photo of what was actually sent.

3) Post on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook etc and include #Optoutofsingleuse as well as the @FoodDeliveryServiceName and the @Restaurant. If enough people do this, they will notice.
