First of all, I want to thank everyone for their support. I wrote this petition yesterday morning as soon as I saw the news because it was simply a gut feeling that I should do something, and I've been blown away by the support I received--we hit 1,000 signatures in just over 24 hours, and I can't thank everyone enough. Thanks to everyone's support, our initiative was mentioned (with a link to the petition) in an Associated Press article today. This momentum is incredible and so appreciated. To keep this momentum up, if you've signed, I'm asking that you share it with others if you're willing and able, whether that's by email, social media, or even just word of mouth to family members. We're setting a very ambitious goal of 5,000 now to get Scripps to consider making a change, and that can only happen if we keep spreading this. Thanks so much to everyone again--let's do everything we can to make sure the 2020 eighth graders get the final shot that they deserve!
