🚨 YOU HELPED MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD — TODAY I’M ASKING FOR ONE FAVOUR
To everyone who supported my Scrap the VAT on domestic energy bills petition, thank you.
I know this is not the petition you originally signed, which is why I don't want to take your support for granted.
But today I am asking whether you might help me with something very different — and very urgent.
Alongside Tricia, I have spent recent months campaigning for Britain's hospices through Every Hospice Matters.
Nearly 100,000 people have now signed.
Nearly 300 MPs and Peers from across parties and both Houses have stood behind the wider campaign.
And Parliamentarians are now personally writing to the Prime Minister asking him to:
Receive the petition.
Meet the families.
Act.
We are now only around 3,000 signatures short of 100,000, and national broadcasters are looking at the story over the coming days.
So why am I writing to you?
Because behind those numbers are real people.
Kim's family is living this today. Someone she loves is receiving end-of-life care in hospital while waiting for a hospice bed. Her family are praying that a place becomes available before it is too late.
Steve is living with stage-four cancer. He has experienced hospice care himself and, after becoming desperately ill this summer, spent nearly three weeks as a hospice inpatient. At one point his family were told he might have only two or three days.
Steve made it home.
He is now hoping to make it to his son's wedding in October.
So please don't do this for me.
Do it for Kim. Do it for Steve. And do it for every family who may one day need a hospice bed to be there when it matters.
