Amid the plethora of issues around the fate of the Scottish steel plants, one can't hep but remark upon the sickening hypocrisy of John Park, assistant general secretary of the steel union Community, who considers "a Scottish voice in the room in Brussels" which has to be begged from the Tory government in London a "positive step", after being part of a despicable campaign to prevent Scotland having a voice in Europe as of right.
His fellow British nationalist, British Labour MSP James Kelly, isn't much better. He demands that the Scottish Government take the steel plants into public ownership after using the nationalisation of Prestwick Airport as a stick with which to beat Nicola Sturgeon.
Nobody is pretending that a Yes vote in the first independence referendum would have prevented the closure of these works. But the current situation only serves to highlight the meaninglessness of "Better Together" claims that jobs in Scotland would be protected by the "broad shoulders" of the UK.
It is clearer than ever that we need to bring Scotland's government home in order to more effectively manage our economy and our resources. A second referendum is required in order that the people of Scotland might have an opportunity to rectify the error of the first.
Independence! Nothing less!
