Hi All

Great to see that you are all still right behind us in our fight for the Clashindarroch. We will have a full update next week after we meet with our lawyers tomorrow. There is still everything to fight for. In other news, our teams are all ready for the winter monitoring ahead. The kittens are also thriving and ranging widely now. They are developing wonderfully as they start to become independent from their beautiful mother, Eve. She has done such a great job to rear her two kittens to this stage. We will share footage when we can.

Our work of course focusses on the Scottish wildcats, and in doing so this in turn helps to promote wider biodiversity. Through our engagement work with some fantastic and enlightened landowners, we can develop plans to provide safe areas where entire communities of forest animals can thrive. The wildcat is indeed a ‘Flagship Species’ and by conserving the wildcat in the wild, we conserve everything in the area.

We put together this video which is from a single camera placed on a forest ‘ride’. It is fascinating to watch the comings and going of all the different species that coexist in the remotest areas of Scotland. Just on this video montage alone, there are 3 protected species, including of course the wildcat at the end.

All these animals live in a complex environment and still so little is known about their interactions. But that is the beauty of nature. Every day is a school day and always exciting.
