Hi All
Our biologists, ecological consultants and legal team are very busy planning the next steps, following on from the Council’s rejection of the proposed windfarm by Vattenfall.
The wildcats in the Clashindarroch represent around one third of the remaining free living Scottish wildcats. It is worth reminding everyone of the serious threats these wildcats face.
1. Proposed windfarm which will industrialise the site.
2. Logging from government agencies. This has occurred during the breeding season which can be devastating to mothers who are nursing kittens.
3. Capture for a captive breeding programme that has an awful track record of breeding hybridised animals and then neutering them.
It is important to note that we are addressing all three of these significant threats.
Amidst all the analysing of documents and legal letters with government agencies, it is sometimes important for us all to lift our heads from the desk and remember the beauty of the both the forest and its amazing inhabitants.
The Clashindarroch is currently covered in heavy snow at the moment and you can imagine the wildcats in their element in this Winter Wildcat Wonderland. We think they should be allowed to live and thrive in peace and that is what we will continue to fight for. Look at the beautiful picture of the forest in this post and then look at these videos of 2 wildcats who we have named Phoenix and affectionately, the ‘Clashindarroch beast’ because he was 4ft long from nose to tail.

A truly special place with truly special wildcats.
We will keep you updated. In the meantime please keep sharing this petition. It is so important that we reach a million signatures.
All the very best
