Hi All

Lots of you have been asking about Finlay. He is doing really well and we are constantly impressed by the strength of his wild instincts. He plays incredibly roughly and we now need gauntlets for any ‘play session’. Of course if he was with his siblings he would be developing his hunting skills with them. However as you know, tragically it is highly likely that Finlay’s siblings died so he doesn’t have this option. We therefore have to provide these opportunities for serious play which are essential for both his muscle development and to keep him mentally stimulated. He is a real live wire and into everything.

He is spending more and more time outside becoming independent, but we really wanted to show you this Video footage taken previously which exemplifies his wild spirit even at a young age.

He is ‘playing’ with a stuffed toy duck. You can see how he instinctively knows to go for the neck and then he drags the ‘carcass’ to his den under cover and then stands over it to guard it. Absolutely perfect wildcat behaviour and exactly what he will need to do in the wild. It’s fascinating and reassuring to observe this behaviour. You can of course also see his beautiful body stripes and ringed tail which are classic Wildcat characteristics.

We really wish that Finlay was never  orphaned and that he never had to be taken into our care. However rest assured we will do everything possible to ensure he has a swift and successful journey back into the wild where he belongs.
