Hi All
We wanted to inform you of a concerning development that is being panned in Morvern on the West coast of Scotland. After the Clashindarroch, Morvern is the second most important place for wildcats in Scotland and forms part of our original Wildcat haven area. Indeed even the Scottish government has identified it as a wildcat priority area. However a major infrastructure project is being panned to facilitate the logging and removal of forests there.
We have been contacted by Morvern residents who are concerned about the impact on the precious wildcat population there. We of course share those concerns and are currently looking into exactly what is being planned. It's so worrying to us that the two most important sites for wildcats in Scotland are being subjected to major development. It means the wildcat is literally running out of space. Is it really too much to ask that this beautiful and iconic animal has special reserves designated, where it can live and breed in peace? Surely this has to happen.
We will keep you posted on our findings and any developments. All this just add weight to our proposals to the government that the wildcat needs a network of protected reserves and this is what we will continue to fight for.
