I just watched the petition go past 200,000 signatures; it's amazing to think that a little form I filled out a month ago has connected with so many people; thank you so much! Unfortunately, there is some bad news too (see attached article). We knew there were plans to put wind farms into the forest, and details have emerged of one which will clear fell 1560 hectares of it; that's a quarter of the forest gone almost overnight, and a quarter of the wildcats with it. Such a massive industrial-scale operation will affect the whole wildcat population though, it could mean the end of the Clashindarroch wildcats; they'lll lose habitat, abandon kittens, lose hunting grounds, and fight with each other for what's left or be forced out onto shooting estates where they can easily be accidentally snared or shot. If we lose this group of wildcats then it's almost certainly the end for the wildcat in the UK, the population is already so tiny. So please; if you've got anyone left you can share it with, anyone who loves nature, cats, forests, birds or wildlife like our beautiful red squirrels, pine martens and goshawks, please encourage them to sign and write to Nicola Sturgeon, Scotland's First Minister (FirstMinister@gov.scot); we can still save this amazing place!
