Save our Recovery Cafes!

The Issue

A prison rehab scheme faces closure despite saving taxpayers an estimated £1.2 million by curbing re-offending and getting inmates off drugs.

The Recovery Cafe (Sisco Foundation) requires £60,000 in funding which comes no where near the figure they are saving the Scottish Government. They are calling on the Government to find funders to secure the future of the successful recovery cafes in HMP Barlinnie and HMP Shotts prisons.

The project has been praised by prison service bosses for turning round lives and is staffed mainly by volunteers.

The project offers a peer led approach to life skills and sustainable recovery options. Offering a person centered approach, allowing participants to create their own recovery journey. This leads to a sense of empowerment and participants taking responsibility of their choices.

The Recovery Cafe receives support from various agencies and organisations such as Glasgow Kelvin College, Street Soccer, VRU, Fass, Reach Advocacy, SRC and many more.

Please sign to stop these Recovery Cafes closing, with your help we can continue to support people in their journey in recovery.
