Hi everyone
We now have 4350+ signatures demanding the release of the asylum seekers held in the Australian built Bomana prison in PNG.
It is heartening to know that there are people like you who are willing to stand up for human rights, who care about the suffering of their fellow humans, who are outraged that the government of this country is willing to sacrifice the lives of innocent men for their own political gain.
But we still need you.
We still need you to help us let people know what is happening in Australia’s name and using Australian tax payers’ dollars.
And the men in Bomana still need you. Because their lives are at stake. Carolina Gottardo, the co-convenor of the Catholic Alliance for People Seeking Asylum and director of the Jesuit Refugee reported from Port Moresby this week that
“ conditions are extreme. Portions of food are meagre; they are not enough for anyone to live on. People have lost weight – 12 to 15 kilograms – in a very short period of time. ...We understand there is no access to daylight or any activity. No visitors allowed, and no contact with families …” (The Saturday Paper 9/11/19)
The situation is extreme and urgent.
Please help us reach our next milestone of 5000 signatures, and send this petition to Mr Morrison.
