Every extra day that Scott Morrison’s Ministers keep Tharni in “community detention” is one more day of fear for Priya and Nades.
They’re terrified Mr Morrison is waiting until the election is over to force their family from Australia to danger - because that’s exactly what his Ministers tried to do after Mr Morrison’s surprise re-election in 2019.
That’s when they tried to force Priya, Nades and their QLD-born girls to a war-torn country where Tamil people face horrific abuse. A country now spiraling into crisis, with millions at risk of starvation.
Yesterday, after nine years of detention, Mr Morrison’s Ministers freed the last of the people they were holding in the Park Hotel.
Just like Priya and Nades, they came legally to our shores in search of a safe and peaceful life.
If Mr Morrison’ Ministers can give other innocent people their freedom after nine years, they can grant four year old Tharni the same visa they’ve already given her mum, dad and sister.
