Friends, this week a judge found Minister Alex Hawke behaved unfairly when he decided to stop Priya, Nades and Kopi from applying for new visas.
I wish the courts could bring this family safely home to Biloea. But the truth is that Scott Morrison’s Ministers have almost unlimited power to intervene in people’s lives by giving or taking away the right to live here.
Please, can you tap here to tell your government MP or Senators it’s time to bring them #HometoBilo?
In the four years since guards snatched Priya, Nades and their QLD-born girls from their Biloela home, people of all beliefs and backgrounds have shown their support for this beautiful family.
Opposition leader Anthony Albanese and Shadow Immigration Minister Kristina Keneally have repeatedly pledged to bring Priya, Nades and the girls home to Biloela. A growing number of independent candidates are speaking out too.
In June, six government MPs broke ranks to join the call to bring them #HometoBilo. I know that this would never have happened without thousands of heartfelt phone calls and letters from people like you, who have signed this petition.
With an election on the way and Mr Albanese and Ms Kenneally’s clear commitment to bringing Priya, Nades, Kopi and Tharni home to Biloela, some people are telling us to sit back and wait.
But as we learned in 2019, there’s no crystal ball when it comes to elections. Our elected representatives have their ears to the ground right now - if we wait until the election to speak up, it could be too late.
For everything you’re doing to get Priya, Nades, Kopi and Tharni safely #HometoBilo - thank you.
With hope,
Angela
PS I know how daunting it can feel to call a politician’s office for the first time. But if even a small percentage of the 591,000+ people who have signed this petition picked up the phone now, the combined power of voices would be impossible to ignore!
