Petition updateBring Priya and her beautiful family back home to Biloela, QueenslandBiloela family visas running out

Friends, we’re so close to getting Priya, Nades and their QLD-born girls home to Biloela. But when the temporary visas granted to Priya, Nades and Kopi run out in less than four weeks, politicians could force this beautiful family from Australia to danger.

Please, will you chip in to challenge four-year-old Tharni's continuing detention and encourage more local MPs and Senators to join the six government MPs who’ve joined to call to bring them #hometobilo?

There’s a lot to be concerned about in Australia and around the world right now. But I know from all of the heartfelt e-mails being sent to government MPs and Senators that you haven’t forgotten about this family.

Two months ago, an overwhelming public outcry forced Scott Morrison’s Ministers to get Priya, Nades and the girls off Christmas Island and re-unite them on the mainland.

That should have been the end of it. But by denying little Tharni a visa while giving one to her Mum, Dad and sister, Minister Hawke stopped her whole family coming home to Biloela. When those visas run out on 22 September, the guards could come for them again.

We can’t let this happen - please donate what you can to help us send a powerful message to local MPs and Senators and make sure Tharni and her family get the legal support they need to challenge this unfair treatment.

Under Australian law, Scott Morrison’s Ministers have always had the power to bring this family home to Biloela with the simple stroke of a pen. That hasn’t changed.

In Biloela, we were writing letters and making calls asking the Ministers to use these common-sense powers for two years before they sent the immigration guards to snatch Priya, Nades and the girls from their home at dawn.

Politicians say they want migrants to help regional towns like Biloela prosper and grow. They tell us that meatworks across Australia, like the one where Nades worked hard to provide for his young family, are running at 60 per cent capacity because they can’t find people to do the work.

I wish I didn’t have to keep asking for your help. But we can’t stop until Priya, Nades, Kopi and Tharni are safe. Please tap through to our crowdfunder now to help get this beautiful family home to Biloela, where they are welcome, wanted and needed.

With hope,

Angela

PS I also wanted to share this beautiful song, To Sleep At Night, with you. It was written and recorded by Perth musician Joe Leach, who became friends with Priya, Nades and the girls when he travelled to Christmas Island for a gig last year. All of the musicians and technical people involved donated their time to record Joe’s song and make this beautiful video - please have a listen and share the link with friends and family on YouTube, Facebook or Instagram.
