Friends, the media are reporting that the fate of our Biloela family will be decided within days.
I often use the words “with hope” to sign off these e-mails. But I know politicians have shattered Priya and Nades’ hopes for their two QLD-born girls so many times before.
So today I am asking you to give strength to those two little words by picking up the phone and leaving a respectful voice message for your government MP or Senators today.
Yesterday, the member for Bass, Bridget Archer joined Biloela’s local member Ken O’Dowd, member for North Sydney Trent Zimmerman, member for Mackellar Jason Falinski and member for Higgins Dr Katie Allen in calling for the Immigration Minister to urgently use his Migration Act powers to bring this family home to Biloela now.
We know that these MPs must be coming under huge pressure to stay silent.
If you are represented by Mr O'Dowd, Mr Zimmerman, Mr Falinski, Dr Allen or Ms Archer, please say ‘thank you’ in your voice message or call and encourage them to keep speaking up - even if your values differ on other issues.
If these government MPs can speak out, so can others.
Ask them to join their colleagues in publicly calling for Priya, Nades and the girls to be swiftly brought home to Biloela, where they are welcome, wanted and needed.
With hope,
Angela
PS To make sure that the words of hope these MPs are giving to Priya and her family are real, today we are launching three billboards in Brisbane, Sydney and the Melbourne that say: “Please Mr Morrison. You must bring these girls home to Biloela.” Thank you to everyone who has donated to make this happen.
