Friends, I’m on Christmas Island. I’m here to show Priya, Nades and the girls that Australia wants them back home in Biloela, QLD.
I’ll never forget that day on 5 March 2018, when Peter Dutton’s Border Force snatched Priya, Nades and their Queensland-born daughters from their Biloela home and locked them away in Melbourne detention centre. Six months ago, Mr Dutton forced them to Christmas Island.
Little Tharunicaa was just nine months old when she was taken from her Biloela home. Now, she’s a beautiful, bubbly two-year old.
Immigration Minister Alan Tudge could bring Tharunicaa and her family home to Biloela with a stroke of a pen. In fact, this power has been used around 1,000 times a year.
Please - can you take a moment to e-mail Minister Tudge now?
Right now, Mr Dutton is fighting this little Queenslander in the courts. Yesterday in Melbourne, our beautiful family’s legal team told the Federal Court why officials need to fairly assess Tharunicaa’s right to the protection of the country she was born in - Australia.
The Court heard that officials had prepared briefs on Tharunicaa’s case asking the Ministers to allow her need for protection to be assessed. The officials noted that many members of the public and MPs had contacted the Ministers about our family. Thank you.
It could take three months for the judge to hand down a decision. But no court has the power to bring Priya, Nades and the girls home to Bilo. Only the Ministers can do that.
It takes less than a minute to send an email from our action page. But please take a few extra moments to tell the Minister, in your own polite words, why this matters to you. It will make all the difference.
For everything you are doing to help our beautiful family - thank you.
With hope,
Angela
