It all comes down to love and hope.

Whether it’s chipping in for Priya’s High Court challenge, e-mailing your MP, calling the Minister or marching on Mr Dutton’s office, that’s what you’ve given to Priya, Nades and the girls. Love and hope.

Today, it’s a year and a month since Mr Dutton’s Border Force took this beautiful family from Biloela and locked them away in a Melbourne detention centre, 1800km from their home.

Over that time, I have been truly humbled by Priya and Nades’ extraordinary strength and resilience. And I’ve been blown away by the outpouring love and support that Australians have shown in taking action for this family, time and time again.

Priya and Nades have watched the number of signatures on this petition grow from a few hundred to over 180,000. They’ve read hundreds of messages of support on the #HometoBilo facebook page. The can see that over a thousand of you have chipped in for billboards, newspaper ads and critical legal support.

But every single day for the last 396 days, this much-loved family have woken to yet another day in detention. Another day without freedom. Another day of fear and uncertainty, not only for themselves, but for their two, beautiful, Queensland-born daughters.

During a recent facetime call with Queensland’s Courier-Mail newspaper, Nades said: Detention centre very, very hard. My kids every day ask, “Go Biloela?” Every day they ask, “Tomorrow? tomorrow?”

Priya said: Please, my two children’s life is very safe here … My life [in Australia] is six year’s safe life … please [let us] come home to Bilo. Thank you, thank you very much.

This week, Priya’s wonderful legal team took another step in the long and complicated process of appealing to the High Court.

Without the support of 1,227 amazing people who have chipped in to build an emergency legal fund, this simply would not have been possible.

In fact, hundreds of you have chipped in to support Priya, Nades not just once, but two, three or more times (special shout-out to the incredible Max - you know who you are!)
