Save the BBG Treehouse

The Issue

The president of the Brooklyn Botanic Garden is planning to remove a very old London Plane tree, citing safety and ecological concerns. However, arborists have determined the treehouse can be kept perfectly safe through the pruning technique of pollarding, and that the old tree is entwined in long-standing biological relationships--relationships which will wither away if the tree is removed.

Additionally, the tree is a wonderful living tree house! Kids of all ages have played inside it for years, and could play for decades to come.

Save this tree! Call or write to BBG director Scot Medbury and ask him to foster and protect it in the next stages of its life. Time is of the essence - the chainsaws are being sharpened as we speak.
