On July 1, 2026, the DEA filed two Notices of Intent to temporarily place 7-OH and three related compounds (MP, MGM-15, MGM-16) into Schedule I of the Controlled Substances Act, targeting synthetic and high-concentration products rather than natural botanical kratom below a set threshold. This is not yet final: a temporary scheduling order can’t take effect until at least 30 days after the notice and after public comments are reviewed, and HHS has opened a 30-day comment period (through July 31, 2026) on where that threshold should be set. This is our window to act — please submit a comment to the public docket (HHS-OASH-2026-0232) urging a threshold that protects access to natural kratom while addressing concerns about synthetic products. We’ll continue tracking this closely and will update you as soon as DEA issues its final order.
