Back in 2018, Dyslexia Victoria SUpport, a grassroots parent group started an Online Campaign. Today we can announce that we have WON and we will be closing off this petition.

Letter: Greetings, 
Decodable books are an essential resource for our early and
struggling readers.
Teaching our children how to decode words gives them an essential
skill to be good readers.
Decodable books give our early readers the chance to practise their
decoding skills.
Our teachers urgently need access to a range of decodable books so
they can support our children's individual learning needs.
Too many of our Victorian State Government school children are
leaving primary school with poor reading skills. Poor reading
skills can make secondary school education inaccessible for these
children. They are left with poor reading skills, limited educational
opportunities, vulnerability to mental health issues and diminished
career options.
But, you can change this!
Our prep teachers are trying their best but they urgently need
decodable books and training in explicit, systematic, sequential
teaching of the five key components of literacy (phonemic
awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary and comprehension).
By providing decodable books to all prep classes in every Victorian
State Government school, the children who need lots of decoding
practice will finally be supported…it’s time!
It’s time to listen to the experts in evidence-based reading
instruction and provide our prep children with the best possible
start to their education"
