The Show is a great weekend  out for the family, but not everyone is having fun.

Every year a rodeo is held at the Maleny Show. Rodeos are extremely stressful for the animals involved as they are confined and antagonised with spurs, flank straps and electric prods.  Injuries to animals in rodeos are very common, with 2018 seeing an ongoing tally of deaths as a result of Queensland rodeos. 

The barbaric nature of rodeos is not suitable for a family friendly event, and the cruelty involved with the sport has already seen it banned in many countries. There are many forms of entertainment which do not involve the exploitation of innocent animals.
