Say NO to Rockfield Park Resort Development - Reject RA14/1004
The issue
Preserving the unique natural beauty of Bellawongarah now under serious threat from over development by Rockfield Park Development Application RA14/1004 Bellawongarah and Black Ash Mountain are a part of the world recognised Kangaroo Valley heritage area, and one of the last remaining high altitude rainforested environments in NSW that has until now escaped the developers greed. This has been possible due to a sensible approach by Shoalhaven Council in previous years to preserve what they recognised as a unique, pristine environment replete with delicate flora and fauna that miraclously escaped the destructive cedar loggers of the 19th century. Shoalhaven Council achieved this through a proactive approach of creating reserves, applying ecology management requirements on landholders and minimising property subdivision. The survival of this unique rainforest landscape is now under threat through thoughtless, inappropriate development that if allowed to occur will forever remove this iconic jewel of Australian nature from the Shoalhaven. The threat? The development of Rockfield Park. A 50 acre hotel resort that offers nothing to the area.
This is not tourism, this is taking a massive slice of our environmental heritage. If you do not like this style of tourism that destroys an environment which we consider is our heritage and responsibility then Say NO to RA14/1004 development application.
There are only around 30...yes 30 of these beautiful Brush-tailed Rock Wallabies left in the entire Shoalhaven district. This species is endangered.
How is a resort development adjacent Black Ash Nature Reserve comprising a 120 person Function Centre, 80 Seat Restaurant, Lounge and Bar and 42 Accommodation Units, plus 100 spot carpark and up to 25,000 Litres of sewage pumped onto surrounding paddocks each day likely to benefit this endangered species?
It is unlikely to be at all good for this critically endangered species - please sign this petition and...
