We promised that we would not let this go, and I am absolutely delighted to announce that parking charges at our car parks in Wetherby will be scrapped from next week!
These charges should never have been introduced in the first place. Our communities made their feelings crystal clear, with 97% of people who signed our petition opposing the charges. The concerns raised by residents and businesses were clear from the outset, and the impact of these charges has been exactly what so many of us warned about.
This is not just a victory for the Wilderness and Station car parks in Wetherby. The decision will also see parking charges removed at the following locations:
Fink Hill, Horsforth
Barleyhill Road, Garforth
Marsh Street, Rothwell
Netherfield Road, Guiseley
Parking charges at all these locations will be removed with effect from Monday 9th November 2026.
A HUGE THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO SUPPORTED OUR CAMPAIGN!
This victory would not have been possible without you. To everyone who signed the petition, shared it with friends and family, raised concerns, spread the word and stood alongside us throughout this campaign – thank you!
Every signature counted, every conversation mattered, and together we have shown the importance of listening to local people.
This is what can be achieved when communities come together, stand up for what they believe in and refuse to give up.
THANK YOU!
