Leeds City Council are determined to press ahead with their plans to impose unwanted parking charges in Wetherby.  They recently published their intent to proceed to the next stage in their process, but Wetherby Ward Councillor Norma Harrington has "called in" the decision, which means it will be reviewed at a special hearing at a cross party scrutiny committee on Thursday 21st November at 10 am.

Norma has been working with Councillor's from other parties across the city who are also affected by the proposals and they will jointly present their case at the meeting. For completeness, we should also point out the Green Councillor's have worked separately to everyone else as they seem to have a very different view.  We will continue to work with anyone who shares our view that these charges would be disastrous for our town and similar communities across the City.  

I am not allowed to take part as I am a member of the Councils Executive board and this is the committee the issue would be referred back to if the scrutiny hearing decides the council need to reconsider.  We will be up against it as the majority of member of the board are from the ruling Labour Party.
