NFDC Refuses to Debate the Petition on A Technicality - Petitions about Planning Are Not Debated!!

Thank you to everyone who has supported our petition — we’ve now passed 1,200 signatures. Your voices have been incredible.

Unfortunately, New Forest District Council has refused to allow our petition to be debated, claiming it relates to a planning application rather than a policy issue.

But our petition — “Say NO to More Retirement Complexes – Protect Lymington Community Balance” — is clearly about the wider policy impact of repeated retirement developments in Lymington. Residents are raising concerns about the long‑term balance of our community, not the details of any single application.

By blocking a debate, NFDC is ignoring more than a thousand residents who simply want a fair, open discussion about the future of our town.

We will continue pressing for transparency, accountability, and a housing strategy that supports all generations in Lymington.
