We Won Round 3 Today! Coral Gables Commission Unanimously Approves WAB Resolution

Thank you to the many supporters, now 616 strong, who showed up today to directly voice their concerns to our City Leaders. You made ALL the difference today as they heard us loud and clear: NO TO LOW BRIDGES ON THE CORAL GABLES WATERWAY!

I'd like to thank our Mayor and all Commissioners for their support. Special thanks today goes to Commissioner Menendez and especially Commissioner Fernandez who strongly advocated for our position, including more transparency, verified site measurements, and alternate designs. The City of Coral Gables will now be hiring a consultant to verify all and report back to the City. It's a good move as the City and it's residents should not just take the word of Miami-Dade and the Underline relative to underlying measures and design intent that impact the potential height of the bridge. You've all heard the adage: "Trust but verify". Well, thanks to your support, we will now verify!

In addition to the above process, I'd like to make a call to any/all structural engineers, bridge engineers, architects that can work with me and the Coral Gables Waterway Advisory Board to possibly explore higher bridge designs that could work for all. Again, we would like to find a bridge design that's a win-win for all, both the Waterway and the Underline.

I'm also calling for any land use and/or litigation attorneys in our group that I can speak to as well. In the event we can't find a mutually agreeable high bridge design, we also need to consider litigation as a last resort. In that event , I'd like to be ready.
