After a very busy few weeks, the City of Wagga Wagga council public exhibition and submission period concluded as scheduled on 13 May 2019.
Thank you to each and every one of YOU. We couldn’t have done this without YOU.
We at Say No lodged two comprehensive objections – one addressing the main EIS shortcomings/failures and the key issues across animals, environment and people. The second covered public interest, social impacts and the corresponding combined campaign petition details and numbers which were bolstered by YOU, and totalled just under 7,000 signatories at the time of our lodgement.
Many other individuals and organisations also lodged objections.
Our petition numbers have continued to grow and we will keep the petitions running for the immediate future to demonstrate to council that people do have a strong public interest and do care deeply about this planning proposal and Animals, Environment and People.
We have requested a council update to confirm the total number of submissions received (for and against), and expect to receive this update in approximately one week’s time.
We are now reviewing the thus far council received initial state government department and agency referral responses. Some are still outstanding and we will continue to chase these.
Council must now compile and forward all received submissions to the NSW Environmental Protection Authority and other referral agencies as necessary for review and further reports back to council. There is a 21 day mandatory period for this process.
We will continue to liaise regularly with council, all referral agencies and all key stakeholders, and have commenced lodging our formal requests for access to the anticipated new reports.
We will also continue chasing a copy of the final Aboriginal Archaelogical Impact Assessment (AAIA) (now finalised and sent to council by the Applicant’s consultants). We will also continue to push hard for an Aboriginal Heritage Impact Permit (AHIP).
We are extremely grateful for the level of support and campaign sharing YOU have all provided. It has made a significant difference. Thank you !
Our next update will be 4-5 weeks away and in the meantime, please stay up to date by following our FACEBOOK page and please continue to share our PETITION
The SAY NO TEAM
