NEW SAY NO CAMPAIGN and WE NEED YOUR HELP

In late 2017 after our hard fought 19 month Say No To Blantyre Farms In Harden campaign and thanks to compassionate and active people like YOU, we achieved a stunning campaign victory when the Hilltops NSW council and two NSW state government departments refused a planning proposal and the required licenses, for the Blantyre Farms proposed intensive piggery in Harden NSW.
Thanks to YOUR SUPPORT we achieved a record number of formal objections, significant ongoing media exposure, Piggery development in rural NSW faces thousands of objections after social media campaign had questions raised in the NSW Parliament, an all-day public forum, and three separate public exhibition periods.
NOW, we are doing it again, with our Say No to Pig Improvement Company's Expansion In Matong campaign by opposing the Pig Improvement Company's (PIC's) plans with the City of Wagga Wagga council to develop their 2nd intensive piggery in the NSW Riverina region, and we NEED YOUR SUPPORT.

LODGE an OBJECTION using our SAY NO SUBMISSION GUIDE and TEMPLATE (available 3 May). The four week public exhibition period for PIC’s development application runs from Thursday 11 April and concludes at COB, Monday 13 May 2019.
PIC, owned by SunPork Pry Ltd, is an Australian and international animal agri-business. Their profits are derived from pig slaughter and the genetic engineering of pigs - heavier, faster growing and more productive pigs, all leading to seriously compromised animal welfare.
Exposed by Aussie Farms in May 2014, PIC already own and operate their NSW Grong Grong intensive piggery also in the Riverina area - one of the largest piggeries in NSW.
At an estimated cost of $9,000,000, the proposed PIC Matong NSW Intensive piggery site buffers the borders of Wagga Wagga, Narrandera and Coolamon councils’.
PIC is proposing the construction of a 1,200 sow farrow to finish genetic nucleus pig herd (GN herd), two additional dwellings and associated infrastructure. The capacity of 1,200 sows equates to approximately 13,000 pigs or 15,000 SPU.
A 1,200 sow herd can produce 270 potentially ‘selectable females’ a week which facilitates herd re-populations and de-population. The development will consist of 16 pull plug sheds connected by a central walkway. Effluent will be contained in an anaerobic pond serviced by two wet weather ponds.
According to the PIC, piglets at their proposed Matong NSW intensive piggery will be weaned at approximately three weeks of age and transferred to the nursery shed until approximately 13 weeks of age. They are then transferred to the grower/finisher sheds where they remain until approximately 22 weeks of age. THEN 50% of these babies will be transported across TWO states, in all weather conditions, to the Big River Pork slaughterhouse in SA, a distance of over 700 kms, where they will be gassed (Co2), and then slaughtered.
Exposed by Aussie Farms in May 2014, footage from Big River Pork depicts workers using electric cattle prods excessively to force pigs into the carbon dioxide (CO2) gas chamber, where they then scream and trash as they suffocate and full unconscious.
Big River Pork is a consortium of 4 major Australian pork industry players (Auspork, B.E. Campbell, George Weston Foods, and Hurstbridge Abattoirs), with apparently state-of-the-art export pork "processing" facilities. It is the largest pig slaughterhouse in the state of South Australia, killing an average of 13000 pigs per week (676000 per year) as of May 2007.
Can we count on YOU joining us to SAY NO ?
