UPDATE ON BLANTYRE FARMS DA & FURTHER SUBMISSION OPPORTUNITY

Aussie Farms
May 28, 2016
Many of you will recall the initial pubic exhibition period and submission opportunity for the Blantyre Farms Development Application (DA) and Environmental Impact Statement (EIS). This concluded on 5 February 2016 and a record number of 1,140 submissions were lodged with council in response. Subsequently, the former Harden shire council, (now amalgamated with Boorowa and Young councils under the banner of Hilltops council), wrote to Blantyre Farms requesting further and better particulars. This 14 page letter included council requests for further information in addition to other information requests by the Department of Primary Industries (Agriculture & Water), the Office of Environment and Heritage and the Environment Protection Authority. The 14 pages of questions included many points of objection we had raised in our ‘Say No’ initial objection based on the missing, conflicting and highly questionable EIS information submitted by Blantyre Farms. Blantyre Farms have since responded. Accordingly, an extensive volume of new/additional information provided by Blantyre Farms has been on public exhibition (28 day period), to enable the public to review the information and compile/lodge submissions by 5pm, Monday 6 June 2016. NB: Amongst this new/additional Blantyre Farms information, their OZARK ENVIRONMENTAL & HERITAGE MANAGEMENT information remains incomplete in DRAFT status with several critical report inclusions listed, “TO BE UPDATED”. We at ‘Say No’ will be lodging a further submission on behalf of this campaign, in response to the Blantyre Farms DA and new/additional EIS information, together with an additional submission with updated petition details. We will, in the next few days, provide our campaign supporters with a brief template incorporating what we consider to be the primary/critical points of objection so that individuals can also lodge a personal emailed objection which is relevant and accurate. As was the case with the initial submissions, because the Blantyre Farms DA is both an Integrated and Designated development, once submissions are received (as at 6 June), these will again be copied and forwarded by council to various state government departments for a further 21 day review. During the interim period, thank you all for your amazing ongoing support and encouragement.
