Thank you all for signing the petition. And thank you for opening your door when I rang and engaging in fun and interesting conversations. It makes me appreciate my changing neighbourhood a little more. Please share with your neighbours and encourage them to participate by signing the petition and/or coming to the meeting tomorrow to voice their views.
I've updated the headline picture in the bottom left corner to better reflect the current BioMed Realty proposal. It was a copy/paste mistake on my part. The error is now corrected. You will notice the substantial increase proposed by BioMed Realty compared to zoning (left and right bottom pictures). I would also like to highlight the context. In their presentations, BioMed Realty goes to great lengths to decontextualize the building. They display the building at angles that alter the perspective and make it appear smaller than it will be in reality. Or they remove the context entirely and show the building next to a park with trees that could be anywhere.
Today, at a BioMed Realty presentation to seniors who came to play Bingo at the East End House, I asked what hardship justified such a substantial density increase; the response was close to: "We will outline that in our (permit) submission". Why must we wait until the official submission to know the hardship is beyond me? It deprives us of essential information that could influence how we see the project. It makes you wonder.
Again, much appreciation to my neighbors for standing up to BioMed Realty. Thank you.
