Support the Student Opposition
Several student groups are organizing an event tomorrow (Friday) from 11 AM – 3 PM at the FAU Boca Raton Student Union.
However, DeSantis' attacks on academic freedom, a heavy police presence, and threats of a counter-protest are creating an intimidating atmosphere. Your attendance will show solidarity with students and faculty resisting this political takeover.

This isn't just FAU—DeSantis is rapidly taking over Florida’s public universities:
- Florida International University (FIU): Republican Lieutenant Governor Jeanette Nuñez--a DeSantis ally--is expected to be named interim president on Friday. Another university under political control.
- University of West Florida (UWF): DeSantis is trying to stack UWF’s Board of Trustees with extremists who oppose public education:
- Scott Yenor: Believes women should not pursue higher education and should instead focus on raising children.
- Adam Kissel: Wants to defund and privatize public universities, calling the GI Bill the "beginning of higher education’s downfall.”
We cannot let this happen to FAU. We must defend academic freedom at Florida’s public universities.
Act Now – The Board Votes Monday, Feb. 10
Hasner’s interview is TOMORROW (Feb. 7). The BOT makes its final decision on MONDAY (Feb. 10). We are running out of time.
