EE continue to ignore local residents

Councillors were disappointed to see EE’s contractors start doing foundations work at the proposed Telecommunications mast site yesterday. We understand the work will be carried out during day and is scheduled to finish before the weekend.
Although EE may be in the position to avoid planning requirements and pursue the construction of the mast through permitted development our understanding is that they should be meeting the Wireless Infrastructure Code of Practice 2022 which requires early meaningful engagement with affected residents.
We and almost 350 residents have asked that they:
· consult with residents on whether they want this mast
· seek the views of conservation experts on the appropriateness of the location
· Identify other possible sites around Faversham where a mast of this size would have less impact.
They have clearly failed to adequately take these steps and we will now write to Swale Planning Enforcement and Ofcom pointing out that EE have violated the requirements of the Code of Practice. In the meantime, we would urge residents to carry on getting friends and neighbours to sign our petition.
