Saving The Wild Horses

Saving The Wild Horses
The Issue
The government is rounding up innocent wild horses using dangerous helicopters and taking them off their natural territory to make room for livestock and new buildings. They are separating bonded families, and the horses are becoming depressed.
The horses are then being re-homed on farms where they are severely neglected and forced to live in unsheltered, small dirt pens. If there is no room left at any of these farms for newly-rounded-up horses, they are being slaughtered.
Firstly, we would like to put a stop to the rounding-up and slaughtering, as it is inhumane, unfair, and really makes no sense. In order to do so, we are creating this petition. If enough people are sympathetic towards this cause, we can prove our point that this is a horrible and unpopular thing. Surveys have found that 80% of Americans are against this.
What the horses need first and foremost is more land, since the government is taking it away. We believe this land could be found in private property/land reserved for certain people, groups, or creatures that is not currently being used. What also may need to happen is for the government to reach out to national and even global horse rescues to home the horses in healthy environments where they will be safe and reunited with their families. If using reserved land and rescues farther away is not an option, then we will simply need to improve the horses' current dwellings. If they cannot be placed back on their natural land, then they must at least be given homes with room to run around and shelter--basic necessities for animal care. They also must be reunited with their families, which got separated during roundups.
We value the precious lives of thousands of wild horses, which aside from being innocent, beautiful animals, are well-known symbols of the west and America. It would be amazing to save this part of American culture as well as, more importantly, lives. We believe that nothing deserves such a fate as these poor wild horses, and to prevent such cruelty from happening would be a powerful statement of compassion.
