First, we want to express our deepest gratitude for all of your incredible support. Thanks to you, our petition has now surpassed 3,000 signatures in just 5 days! This is beyond anything we could have imagined, and it gives us hope that we can make a real difference in Stephen’s life.
We’re overwhelmed by the amount of love and support we’ve received from all corners of the world, and your signatures, shares, and kind words continue to give us the strength to fight on. We are truly blown away by your generosity and commitment to helping Stephen, and we cannot thank you enough.
The Road Ahead:
Thanks to all of you, we’ve seen an incredible increase in support from the public, and media attention is growing. This has been invaluable in applying pressure on Wiltshire Council—pressure they can no longer ignore. But we cannot stop now.
We are close to reaching 5,000 signatures, and once we do, we will have met the threshold required to request that the Full Council debate our petition, according to their website. This is a crucial milestone, and with your continued support, we are confident we can push this through and ensure that Stephen’s voice is heard loud and clear.
As Stephen’s current social worker from Wiltshire wrote in an email to the commissioning officer dated January 21, 2025:
"I have met with the commissioner overseeing the group/service and met with my manager where we strongly advocated the need for Stephen to remain at the Old Orchard and our rationale for that."
This was a clear, unequivocal statement from a representative of Wiltshire that his well-being requires him to remain at Old Orchard, a place he can trust. Yet, despite this, Wiltshire Council have disregarded this crucial recommendation, and no action has been taken to ensure Stephen’s future stability at the home he has called his own for nearly a decade.
The May 3rd deadline is fast approaching, and Stephen’s future remains uncertain. The council’s lack of response to their own social workers clear advocacy for Stephen’s continued care at Old Orchard only strengthens our resolve to keep fighting.
Please, if you haven’t already, share this petition again—on social media, with friends, in emails. We must keep pushing forward, making sure Stephen’s voice is heard.
We are so grateful for your ongoing support. Together, we can make sure Stephen remains where he feels safe and cared for, in the “place that is right for him for the future”. We will never stop fighting for him.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
With all our love and appreciation,
Stephen’s Family
