Council Motion to Relocate Curling from Roseland to Capri Pizza Recreation Centre carries on December 11th
The city has spoken and they have officially advised city administration to begin work to relocate curling from the current facilities at Roseland Golf and Curling Club to the Capri Pizza Recreation Centre (formerly South Windsor Arena) See Windsor Star article HERE
With that, our first and foremost goal of saving curling at Roseland has not succeeded, and we will be closing the petition. However, this does not mean that our campaign is over.
We have always had two goals in mind from the beginning of this endeavor. The first was to Save Curling at Roseland. The second goal is to have a seat at the decision-making table in the development and design of a new home for curling in the city.
We are pleased to say that that goal is still alive and is proving successful. The city administration in charge of the half-million-dollar retrofit has begun meeting with members of the Future of Curling in Windsor-Essex committee and preliminary discussions around key factors to success have been discussed.
Although this petition has ended, the amount of support and outreach from this community and beyond has been moving, to say the least. The committee plans to move forward in guiding the city in a way that meets the needs of our curling community and provides this city with an even better experience.
