Our lovely Mum Sonia Rose was killed in a horrific road crash near Mount Grace Priory on the treacherous North East A19. A van lost control when the driver fell asleep and went through a gap in the central reservation, hitting her car head on and killing her instantly. If this gap had been closed she would still be alive today and there are at least 40 more risky gaps between Thirsk and Middlesborough. It's a disgrace.

At her inquest on November 15th 2017 the coroner said he would be writing to the Department of Transport asking them to consider "very quickly, the closure of many, if not all, of the gaps on the road", something he had already called for in the past.

It is outrageous that every day people should have to take their lives in their hands while using this essential and very busy road. We believe that this road should be brought up to the same standard as other major trunk roads. Not only have there been many serious crashes on this road but it is also a vital life line for the industry of the North East. New funding is desperately needed.

If we can save just one life by getting our Government to spend the money on a comprehensive upgrade of this road and prevent another family from having to go through the shock, pain and grief that we have suffered in the last year then we will have done something worthwhile in Mum's memory.
