It's been 3 months since we started this petition and where are we now. Well, the short answer is... Still waiting for the council to deliver on their promised meeting with Natural England and still waiting on responses to the various points and questions raised. Here is a summary of what we have done so far...

  1. Given out leaflets to surrounding areas to highlight the issue
  2. Had an initial 30 minute meeting with Cllrs Purse and Swords to explain the issue so they could investigate further.
  3. Raised stage 1 and stage 2 complaints
  4. Carried out an FOI request to deepen our understanding of the issues
  5. Promoted the cause through 'Your Harlow'
  6. Protested at the civic centre in Harlow
  7. Raised questions at both the Harlow council cabinet and full council meetings (both of which we are still waiting on the council to provide the further information promised)
  8. Been interviewed on BBC radio Essex
  9. Featured on ITV News Anglia
  10. Had an article in Horse and Hound magazine
  11. Had positive conversations with Natural England
  12. Raised a DSAR with Harlow Council (still waiting for that

But ultimately, were remain in the hands of Harlow Council who, despite promising a meeting with us, Natural England and themselves over a month ago, have failed to give any dates of when this will happen. Cllrs Sword and Purse who made this promise have now passed this over to yet another council contact, who it would appear is similarly poor at communicating and engaging with us.

We are completely sick and tired of the council and their underhand and deliberate stalling of progress on this matter. Perhaps they hope we will get bored and go away... Well, they are wrong! The picture above is a stark reminder of why we are doing this and why we will continue to fight this for as long as it takes.

So not really much to update on as we continue to wait for this promised meeting, but we wanted to let each and every one of our the 1,731 people who have taken the time to sign and promote our petition that we haven't given up and as soon as we have more news we will let you know.
