Save Yoruba Traditional Institution: Call Mufti Iwo (Omolasan Dauda) to Order for Inciting Violence and Abusing Obas in Iwoland

- Oluwo of Iwo and Osun State Council of Obas
*PETITION TEXT:*
We, the concerned Yoruba sons and daughters and lovers of peace in Nigeria, write to call for urgent intervention over the activities of one Mr. Omolasan Dauda popularly known as Mufti Iwo, based in Iwo, Osun State.
For some time now, Mr. Dauda has been using social media platforms including Facebook and TikTok to:
1. Use abusive and degrading language against Yoruba traditional rulers, including the Oluwo of Iwo and other respected Obas in Yorubaland.
2. Make statements that are capable of inciting religious intolerance and communal chaos in Iwo, a town known for peace.
3. Desecrate Yoruba culture and tradition which is protected under the Nigerian Constitution.
Yorubaland is built on respect for our Obas. Section 21 of the 1999 Constitution says the State shall protect Nigerian cultures. No individual, whether cleric or not, should be allowed to abuse our Obas and cause breach of peace.
We are not against Islamic preaching. We are against incitement, chaos and insult to traditional institution.
*OUR DEMANDS:*
1. The Osun State Police Command should invite Mr. Omolasan Dauda and caution him to stop any act capable of causing violence.
2. The Osun State Government and Council of Obas should protect Yoruba traditional institution from public abuse.
3. The DSS should monitor his public preaching to prevent incitement.
We want peace in Iwo. We want respect for our Obas.
