What’s the difference between Age UK and the 4 other charities that have owned Woodcot?
All of the others passed Woodcot on and honoured Miss Jennings wishes.
Only Age UK are seeking to cash in and sell it for maximum profit.
All the other charities overlooked the enormous gains they could have made by selling Woodcot because they understood the concept of honouring a legacy. They all passed up on the opportunity to cash in and played it forward ensuring that Woodcot always remained as a charitable residential home for old people.
Not so Age UK.
In case you can’t see the image in the photo clearly, this is what Help The Aged ( which Age UK took over in 2009) promised Miss Jennings in 1977:-
“ We do want to express our appreciation for your generosity in allowing Woodcot to come into the ownership and care of Help The Aged. We were sorry that it was not possible for you to have been present on the happy occasion of the opening on February 12th when those of us who were representing the Charity could have expressed our thanks to you personally and to give our assurances that we shall do our utmost to ensure that Woodcot will always fulfil the purpose which you had in mind when originally making such generous gift.”
if this outrages you, as it does the other 2903 people who have signed this petition. Please keep signing and keep sharing.
On behalf of decent people everywhere. Thankyou.
