We are officially at 188 signatures and the momentum is incredible, but we cannot afford to slow down now. I cannot stress enough how important it is for everyone to share this link right now—post it in your street WhatsApp groups, message your neighbors, and urge anyone who hasn't signed to do it today. Numbers are our only leverage.
Over the next week, I’ll be finalizing a full evidence dossier to hand over to our new Councillor, Paula-Jane Thackray. This folder will include the estate's planning history and previous Council refusals for "alien" structures that were blocked for ruining Whinmoor's visual appeal. We are making sure the Council understands that the underground character of our streets isn't up for negotiation.
Regarding the work itself, we’ve identified SCD Group Ltd as the most likely contractor based on their activity in neighboring wards. I am currently compiling a performance log regarding their past installations and pavement repairs. Since some of our paths were only resurfaced in 2024, we cannot risk them being damaged by "quick-fix" infrastructure. We will be requesting that every single pole installed is strictly inspected by the Council, so please take "before" photos of your street and pavements now. Having a record of the current condition of our paths is vital for holding them accountable for any damage.
We’ll also be launching a formal Household Pledge this week for residents to state they will not support or pay for any service delivered via overhead poles. If we show them there is no profit in ruining our skyline, they lose their main incentive for being here. We aren't anti-broadband, but we won't be fooled into thinking poles are the only option. Please keep sharing and pushing the petition so we can hit 250 signatures by next Sunday. Also, keep your eyes peeled—if you see any SCD vans or other contractors and new spray-paint marks on the pavement, save the photo and share with the Giggle Fibre reference.
Thanks all
