Friend of the Sea and World Shipping Council vice president met the Sri Lanka Government in November to motivate it to submit proposal to IMO to shift the lanes 15 NMiles South to save the whales in Southern Sri Lanka. Unfortunately the Government did not proceed as hoped. Friend of the Sea has therefore requested last week the World Shipping Council and its members (Maersk, Hapag Lloyd etc) to slow down their ships to 10 knots or less in the area between meridians 80° and 81° East. We still have received no reply. We will insist and keep you posted. Thank you everybody for your great support
