This is the last week to sign this petition; it closes on Friday 9th October, and on Wednesday 14th October we'll take every signature to 10 Downing Street.
If you've already signed, thank you! And there's still time to send it to one more person this week; a neighbour, someone at the school gate, someone who walks in the wood. The petition shows the Government how strongly Portishead feels, and with the paper signatures, we are well on our way to 11,000 voices being heard.
Key dates:
- Fri 9 Oct: this petition closes. 5pm is also the deadline to ask to take part in the hearings, but only if you commented on the plan in 2025.
- Sat–Sun 10–11 Oct: we print and assemble every signature with Portishead Town Council.
- Wed 14 Oct: hand-in at 10 Downing Street.
- Wed 21 Oct: public meeting at Somerset Hall, Portishead, 7:30–9 pm. Portishead Town Council is hosting, and Avon Wildlife Trust, which owns and manage the wood, will be there.
- Tue 27 Oct: deadline for written hearing statements. This only applies to people taking part.
- Sat 31 Oct: community gathering at Merlin Park (details below).
- Tue 8 Dec, 10 am: Tower Farm is discussed at the public hearing, Town Hall, Weston-super-Mare. Anyone can come and watch.

IMPORTANT: There will be a gathering for Weston Big Wood on Saturday 31 October, 10 am to 12 noon, in the lower field of Merlin Park.
Please join us for a peaceful gathering for Weston Big Wood, the wildlife it supports and the green spaces that make Portishead special. Come and show how much this place matters, and help send a clear message that the wood and the land around it should be protected for the generations who come after us.
Bring your family, your friends and your voice!
Please also bring snacks or cake to share. We'll provide tea, coffee and soft drinks.
