Thank you for making your voices heard on this issue. The outpouring of concern from families and community members has not gone unnoticed, and I want you to know that I share your commitment to keeping W.B. Beam Intermediate School open.
I have been actively working with my fellow Commissioners and members of the Board of Education for weeks to find a workable solution — one that keeps Beam open and identifies additional funding for Gaston County Schools. I have been in direct contact with most BOE members to discuss the serious concerns around closure and why I believe consolidation would be the wrong path forward for our students and our community.
This work is ongoing, and I am doing everything within my power to make sure the right outcome is reached. I appreciate your engagement and your passion for this school. Rest assured, you are not alone in this fight.
