However - we have not given up, it is not over yet and we are still fighting and hopeful!
Towards the end of last year Sustainable Warminster made a legal challenge to the Secretary of State requesting that an Environmental Impact Assessment of the Damask Way development site be carried out.
Sadly this has just concluded with the Secretary of State having made his final decision in which he states that the environmental impact of the development on the Damask Way site does not justify an EIA being carried out at. Read the decision here
Our legal challenge has, if nothing else, forced Wiltshire council to reconsider the environmental impact of the application and issue their own draft screening opinion for the Secretary of State to review and base his decision on.
Despite a number of requests to the planning department, this Screening Opinion is still not available on the planning portal for the public to read but Sustainable Warminster do have access to a copy if you would like to see it.
As we have said .. We have not given up, it is not over yet and we are still fighting!
Currently the County ecologist continues to object to the application and recently, The Head of Conservation at the Wildlife Trust have written a very direct and strong objection which you can read here. Wildlife Trust objection
We are armed with so much evidence, the support of various NGOs, many strong arguments and numerous reasons why this development should not go ahead.
We will be ready to present it all to the planning committee when the time comes!
