Once again, new events are shaping the course of our actions in this never-ending saga… This time however it is good news, as we are very glad to announce that we have been given leave to appeal the decision taken by Christopher Pincher, Housing Minister, on behalf of Robert Jenrick, then Secretary of State, to approve the construction of the Holocaust Memorial and Learning Centre in Victoria Tower Gardens.  This is a very important step, and one that we need to win!

We understand that the court hearing will occur in early 2022 and will revolve around two ‘grounds’ that we highlighted as deeply unsatisfactory:  the first relates to harm to the Buxton Memorial, a Grade 2* monument that will be totally engulfed by the new development; the second calls out the fact that the Government did not properly consult before choosing VTG as a potential site, and did not compare the harm and suitability of this site with that of other alternative, less vulnerable sites.

For this phase of our battle, a new highly regarded QC has joined our legal team – we want and need the best of the best to represent us!

The official Claimant in the forthcoming court case will be London Parks and Gardens Trust, an influential charity whose objectives we totally share and with whom we have been collaborating closely for several years now. Its charity status is very important to us in terms of setting up funds as efficiently as possible to cover all legal fees required and any additional costs that might occur.

With the London Parks and Gardens Trust acting as the Claimant, all donations now need to go directly to its bank account.  You can also see the London Parks and Gardens Trust’s own CrowdJustice page, recently launched, which will run in parallel to ours.  In light of this merger, however, Save Victoria Tower Gardens is also re-launching its CrowdJustice page.  The link for donations is :

More than ever, we need your support and are extremely grateful for any amount given …It is thanks to your generosity that we have been able to afford a professional teams of such calibre.  So please continue to follow us – I will be sending more regular updates now that things are once again moving!  Thanks again from all of us...
